About The Position
A Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring the heart rhythm pattern of patients to detect abnormal pattern variances using telemetry equipment. This role involves reviewing patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances. The technician observes cardiac monitors and listens for alarms to identify abnormal variations in heart rhythm, and then informs the Assistant Nurse Manager and/or Registered Nurse of these variances to initiate examination of the patient.
Requirements
- High School Graduation or Equivalent
- Nursing Assistant Coursework
- National EKG Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required by the American Heart Association
- Successful completion of the GSMC EKG test
- 1 year of monitor tech experience
