About The Position

This role assists the driver in the safe operation of the route and manages students as defined by the school. The Monitor-Aide is responsible for student management, communicating behavior problems to the driver, and assisting with bus inspections and student loading/unloading. The position also involves cooperating with school personnel, parents, and students, attending safety meetings, conducting emergency evacuations, and cleaning the bus interior. Other specialized functions may be required by contract.

• Ability to use or learn to use the internet, additional programs as required, and office equipment, including fax and phones, or other electronic devices

Responsibilities

• Ability to learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device
• Student management and communication of behavior problems with the driver
• Assisting in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts
• Assisting students in the loading and unloading process, including wheelchair lift
• Cooperating and communicating with school personnel, parents, and students
• Attending all safety and training meetings
• Conducting emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door
• Cleaning the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows
• Other specialized functions as required by contract
