About The Position

We are seeking a skilled MongoDB DBA with extensive experience in managing and optimizing MongoDB environments. This role involves hands-on database administration, including installation, configuration, automation, migrations, and performance tuning. The ideal candidate will be adept at troubleshooting, ensuring data quality, and working within a dynamic, large-scale environment. This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days onsite per week in either Bethlehem, PA or Holmdel, NJ. Local candidates are preferred for this 6+ month contract role.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of MongoDB DBA experience.
  • Experience with MongoDB versions 5 to 7.
  • Experience with MongoDB replicaset and sharding clusters.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB external LDAP authentication.
  • Experience with Ops manager installation, configuration, and job automation.
  • Experience with database migrations to cloud.
  • MongoDB query tuning experience.
  • Shell scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience with MongoDB tools, backup and restores.
  • AWS/Cloud Services experience: EC2, RDS, and Aurora.
  • Cloud deployments experience: Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform.
  • Hands-on, technically adept DBA capable of performing required DB tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting/performance tuning skills.
  • Ability to assess and improve query performance.
  • Ability to handle common database life cycle processes (upgrade, backup, recovery, migration).
  • Expert level MongoDB version 5/6/7, No-SQL technologies, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning, back-up/recovery, remote monitoring skills with hands-on experience in large and very dynamic environments.
  • Strong commitment to following SDLC/Change-Management principles.
  • Self-starter with ability to perform work with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Knowledge of data quality, data management, and data testing strategies and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong experience working with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Zenoss or any other monitoring tool, Cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, CloudTrail), AppDynamics (or similar APM tool).

Responsibilities

  • Perform MongoDB DBA tasks, including installation, configuration, and job automation.
  • Manage MongoDB replicaset and sharding clusters.
  • Configure and utilize MongoDB external LDAP authentication.
  • Install, configure, and automate activities using Ops Manager.
  • Execute database migrations to the cloud.
  • Tune MongoDB queries for optimal performance.
  • Utilize shell scripting and automation for database tasks.
  • Perform MongoDB backups and restores using various tools.
  • Deploy and manage databases on AWS/Cloud Services (EC2, RDS, Aurora).
  • Implement cloud deployments using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Terraform.
  • Troubleshoot and tune database performance.
  • Assess and improve query performance.
  • Handle common database lifecycle processes: upgrade, backup, recovery, migration.
  • Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary.
  • Manage expert-level MongoDB versions 5/6/7, NoSQL technologies, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning, back-up/recovery, and remote monitoring in large and dynamic environments.
  • Adhere to SDLC/Change-Management principles.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Apply knowledge of data quality, data management, and data testing strategies.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Utilize ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Zenoss), cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, CloudTrail), and APM tools (AppDynamics).
