About The Position
The Division of Pathology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is recruiting a full-time faculty member to serve as an Assistant Director of the Molecular and Genomic Pathology Services (MGPS) Laboratory. The MGPS laboratory provides clinical molecular pathology services to the patients at CCHMC and functions as a reference laboratory for other regional and national pediatric hospitals. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Cincinnati Children’s Hospital among the top pediatric hospitals in the nation. The Department of Pathology is seeking an outstanding molecular pathologist with a broad range of experience in molecular diagnostics, including high throughput technologies, such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). The MGPS laboratory performs molecular diagnostic testing for oncology and infectious diseases specimens using NGS and conventional testing modalities, such as realtime PCR, droplet digital PCR, and fragment analysis. The MGPS laboratory offers comprehensive pediatric cancer NGS panel for solid tumors and hematopoietic neoplasms and minimal residual disease monitoring for Histiocytosis. The laboratory is actively engaged in development of novel assays for viral resistance testing, methylation classifier, and liquid biopsy testing and implementing robotic automation to support the active growth. The laboratory team consists of experienced technical specialists for conventional and NGS wetlab assay development, as well as a dedicated clinical bioinformatics team for the development of bioinformatics pipelines, software systems, and laboratory informatics infrastructure. Responsibilities of this position will include oversight and direction of the day-to-day clinical operations of the MGPS laboratory. The faculty in this position will work closely with the Medical Laboratory Director to: Review, interpret, and sign-out of clinical oncology cases Oversee adherence to technical laboratory procedures and policies as well as assist in troubleshooting technical problems Provide consultation to healthcare professionals and clients regarding test utilization and interpretation Develop and validate new tests Oversee compliance with regulatory agencies Review laboratory data and reports Contribute to faculty teaching responsibilities, including teaching pediatric pathology fellows in the department. Despite the clinical role of this position, there are several opportunities to lead or participate in collaborative research projects with other faculty within Division of Pathology and other Divisions in the hospital. Academic rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
