About The Position

Tempus is seeking a passionate Molecular Lab Supervisor to join their team and contribute to advancing the healthcare industry through precision medicine. This role involves overseeing a cutting-edge molecular workflow focused on high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times. The supervisor will ensure the laboratory maintains analytic performance, adheres to CLIA/CAP/NYSDOH compliance, and manages quality control, instrument maintenance, and remedial actions. The position also includes scheduling training, competency assessments, mentoring a team of technologists, maintaining laboratory safety, and utilizing automation and robotics to standardize the discovery pipeline. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for scheduling training and onboarding for new hires.

Requirements

  • MD + 1 year clinical lab experience OR PhD (physical, chemical, or biological science) + 1 years clinical lab experience OR MS (physical, chemical, or biological science) + 2 years pertinent clinical lab experience OR BS (physical, chemical, or biological science) + 4 years of pertinent clinical lab experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks to others

  • Ability to work with others to plan and carry out scientific programs
  • Self-driven and works well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal direction

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily oversight of a cutting-edge molecular workflow to provide high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times
  • Monitor laboratory processes to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained, to include review of quality control, instrument and equipment maintenance, and other quality assurance activities
  • Assure all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
  • Perform quality review for samples within the sequencing workflow from extraction to sequencing
  • Maintain CLIA/ CAP/ NYSDOH compliance
  • Schedule training and competency assessments for personnel
  • Mentor team of clinical molecular technologists and extraction technologists
  • Maintain safety within the laboratory and ensure all safety protocols are followed
  • Utilize automation and robotics to standardize the discovery pipeline from sample acquisition to sequencing output
  • Schedule training and onboarding for new hires
