About The Position

Amcor is seeking a Molding Technician to maintain a safe working environment and ensure equipment is in top working order to produce quality products. The role involves setting up machines, changing materials, and monitoring processes. The technician will also be responsible for mold repairs, preventative maintenance, and coordinating with other departments. This position requires a technical understanding of injection molding processes and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Possess or obtain a technical understanding of injection-molding processes and procedures.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior plastic injection molding experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Keep all equipment in top working order.
  • Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules.
  • Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems.
  • Startup machines in a timely manner and monitor quality at start up.
  • Complete Line Clearance documentation and procedure after completion of each job.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to machines to maintain efficient production levels and document appropriately.
  • Perform mold repairs, insert changes, and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Respond to Quality Assurance Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards.
  • Oversee proper packaging procedures.
  • Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.
  • Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions.
  • Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers.
  • Perform the Packer/Handler job to assist with relief breaks.
  • Assist with Material Handling as needed.
  • Keep the floor stocked with materials required for production (fitments/handles/labels/tape, etc.).
  • Ensure quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
