About The Position

The Molding Technician transforms components from raw material into finished products through the molding process while working in a team environment. The role follows Smith+Nephew policies and procedures, applicable governing rules, and workplace safety and cleanliness practices. The position works under moderate supervision and may perform other assigned work inside or outside a clean room. Responsibilities include inspecting molds and equipment before installation, setting up and operating molding equipment, and inspecting the products made. The technician verifies equipment function, including ejector switches, mold opening and closing, side-core movement, and signs of abnormal noise or water leakage, and reports concerns to engineers or preventive maintenance technicians. The role also uses appropriate inspection equipment and completes labor transactions and barcode scanning. The technician completes documentation and training required by company policies, the Quality Manual, and applicable FDA, QSR, domestic, and international standards and regulations. Teamwork, communication, listening, and participation in product and process improvement are important parts of the role. The technician maintains safety and cleanliness, including performing simple maintenance and cleaning the work area as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to work third shift (night shift).
Must be able to successfully achieve certified operator status where applicable.
Ability to read and write English.
Basic math skills.
Good attention to detail with paperwork and legible handwriting.
Ability to complete simple inspections.
0–6 months of experience in medical device manufacturing required.
Able to stand for extended periods.
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect molds and equipment before installing them into a molding machine.
Set up and operate molding equipment and inspect the products produced.
Verify equipment functions, including ejector switches, mold opening and closing, side-core movement, and signs of abnormal noise or water leakage; bring concerns to the attention of engineers and preventive maintenance technicians.
Use appropriate inspection equipment and complete simple inspections.
Complete required documentation in accordance with company policies, the Quality Manual, and applicable regulations and standards.
Complete assigned training on time.
Perform labor transactions and barcode scanning.
Communicate, listen, participate in teamwork, and contribute to improvements in products and processes.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment, products, and the work area, including simple maintenance as required.
Perform other assigned work inside or outside a clean room.
