About The Position
Silgan Closures is hiring a Molding Technician at its Champaign, Illinois manufacturing facility. The role involves maintaining, repairing, setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing high-speed molding machinery and auxiliary equipment used to produce food and beverage packaging components. The technician supports efficient production, equipment uptime, product quality, and safety while working with production, maintenance, and management teams. The schedule is a 12-hour day shift from 5:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, with every other weekend off. The position offers weekly pay and opportunities for overtime, but no mandatory overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience as a molding technician, mold mechanic, or in a related maintenance role.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, process, and troubleshoot molding machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and product quality.
- Ensure parts meet quality and safety requirements.
- Monitor and maintain chiller and production system performance.
- Communicate effectively with production, maintenance, and management teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation according to GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, reliability, and teamwork.
