Tooling - Molding Technician
About The Position
The Molding Technician supports injection mold upkeep and tool room activities. The role performs preventive maintenance based on accumulated shots and production-reported condition; cleans, greases, services, and configures molds for upcoming production runs; and keeps mold storage locations accurate. The technician inspects molds for wear, damage, or abnormal conditions and raises concerns to toolmakers or engineering. The position coordinates with production to ensure molds are available on schedule, documents mold work, follows good manufacturing practices and safety guidelines, and performs minor machining needed to service molds using a Bridgeport, lathe, or surface grinder.
Requirements
- High school diploma or college degree.
- Mechanical skills.
- Detailed and organized.
- Basic knowledge of mechanics, electricity, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in an injection molding environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on injection molds according to accumulated shots and conditions reported by production.
- Clean, grease, and service injection molds in preparation for the next production run.
- Prepare molds in the correct configuration according to drawings and the production schedule.
- Inspect and evaluate molds for wear, damage, or abnormal conditions and raise issues with toolmakers and/or engineering.
- Maintain accurate mold storage locations.
- Support tool room activities related to molds.
- Coordinate with production to ensure molds are available and ready on time.
- Document all work performed on injection molds.
- Adhere to good manufacturing practices and safety guidelines.
- Follow schedules for work shifts, meetings, time off, overtime, and breaks.
- Perform minor machining activities required to service molds using a Bridgeport, lathe, or surface grinder.
