About The Position

This role is responsible for starting up and shutting down molding machines and auxiliary equipment. The technician will independently perform mold changes, adjust process parameters for quality, and troubleshoot problems with machines, molds, and robots. They will also change pneumatic fixtures and end effectors on robotic work cells, provide technical direction to setters and molding associates, and support training and development. The position requires applying scientific molding principles and RJG methodology, performing and interpreting complex RJG studies, and setting up/calibrating robotic equipment. Routine maintenance (PM Service) on machines, molds, and robots is also a key responsibility, along with performing quality checks, writing work orders in SAP, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The role may involve working in other departments or job classifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3–5 years injection molding experience, including advanced troubleshooting and mold setup
  • RJG training (Essentials, Math for Molders, Fundamentals of Systematic Injection Molding) required or ability to complete within defined timeframe.
  • Must be able to use PIT equipment to move materials.
  • Be able to lift 45 lbs.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Blue print reading required
  • Skilled use of calipers

Responsibilities

  • Start-up and or shutdown molding machines and auxiliary equipment as needed.
  • Independently perform mold changes and provide assistance and guidance to others during mold change activities.
  • Adjusts process parameters to ensure high quality at production standards.
  • Maintain records of adjustments.
  • Successfully trouble shoot problems on machines, molds, robots and can successfully make adjustments to maintain quality/production.
  • Change pneumatic fixtures and end effectors on robotic work cells.
  • Provides technical direction and support to setters and molding associates.
  • Assists with troubleshooting escalations, supports training and development of lower labor grades, and makes proactive decisions aligned with production priorities.
  • Applies scientific molding principles and RJG methodology to establish, optimize, and sustain robust molding processes.
  • Performs and interprets complex RJG studies and uses data to drive process improvements.
  • Set-up/perform tool (arm) changes, adjustments, re-teach robots and calibrate all robotic equipment as necessary.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly PM Service as required on machines, molds and robots, keeping records/logs on same.
  • Perform quality checks throughout shift using various gauges, record results and take actions as necessary to resolve issue and contain material.
  • Responsible for writing work orders in SAP to ensure repair of machines or molds.
  • Keep machines, robots and work areas clean, safe and orderly.
  • Responsible for quality and quantity of work produced.
  • Responsible for a neat and orderly work area.
  • May be required to work in other departments and in other job classifications.
