About The Position

The Injection Molding Technician II applies advanced technical expertise to complex machine setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives and may lead small projects or mentor junior technicians. Success in this position requires clear, proactive communication with operators, engineers, and supervisors to ensure efficient operations and timely resolution of issues. ADVANCED MACHINE SETUP AND OPERATION Set up complex molds and configure multi-zone temperature control systems. Optimize integration of auxiliary equipment, including robotics, conveyors, and material handling systems. Validate and document process parameters to ensure consistent and repeatable production performance. TROUBLESHOOTING AND PROCESS OPTIMIZATION Demonstrate independent decision-making when correcting process drift and maintaining established “Master Process” settings with minimal supervision. Diagnose and resolve complex molding issues such as flash, sink marks, warpage, and dimensional inconsistencies. Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions. Partner with engineering and quality teams to support process development and optimization efforts. Apply intermediate-level problem-solving skills to improve process stability and efficiency. QUALITY CONTROL Conduct advanced inspections and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data. Support first article inspections, capability studies, and validation activities. Ensure ongoing compliance with internal quality standards and applicable external requirements. MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY Lead preventive maintenance activities and assist with equipment upgrades or modifications. Promote and enforce safety protocols while supporting continuous improvement in workplace organization (5S). DOCUMENTATION AND TRAINING Maintain accurate and detailed process documentation and update standard work instructions as needed. Train and mentor Level I technicians and machine operators. Provide clear instructions, coaching, and feedback during training sessions and daily production activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in plastics, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Molding Technician.
  • Proven proficiency in mold setup, troubleshooting, and process documentation.
  • Strong understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and utilize precision measurement tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
