About The Position

Flex is seeking a Molding Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 at our Buffalo Grove, IL site. This role offers the opportunity to assist with daily engineering tasks, learn, and collaborate with Engineers and cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment. Flex is a diversified manufacturing partner that helps brands design, build, and deliver innovative products.

Requirements

• Junior/Senior student pursuing Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related major
• Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment
• Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
• Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
• Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
• 3.0 minimum GPA

Nice To Haves

• Solidworks CAD and troubleshooting knowledge highly desired
• Prior internship experience with plastic injection molding process strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineering Team with continuous improvement project(s)
• Attend Design Status, Customer/Internal Review and Continuous Improvement Meetings
• Support plastic injection mold design process
• Complete assigned work orders and provide 2D and 3D models
• Update design guidelines and standards
• Update documentation for Process Guides, CCL’s to stay compliant
