About The Position

This role is responsible for setting up and overseeing molding machine operation to ensure efficiency and quality. The Mold Technician will occasionally serve as backup in the absence of a Shift Supervisor. The position requires maintaining a safe working environment and exemplifying Amcor's Behaviors and Values. The technician will work professionally with other mold technicians and maintenance personnel to keep equipment in top working order, ensuring only quality product is released to the customer. This role involves setting up machines for operation, changing material and color to meet production schedules, and requires a technical understanding of the process and raw materials used. The technician must keep supervisors/management informed of all problems, start up machines in a timely manner, monitor quality at start up, and complete Line Clearance documentation after each job. Adjustments to machines will be made to maintain efficient production levels and documented appropriately. Mold repairs, insert changes, and preventative maintenance are also key responsibilities. The technician will respond to Quality Assurance Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards, oversee proper packaging procedures, and review production schedules to ensure machines meet customer demands. Prompt response to alarms and requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions or Packer/Handler problems is expected, along with the use of proper Lockout/tagout procedures. Coordination with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions is required. The technician will inspect scrap to prevent usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers. The ability to effectively perform the Packer/Handler job for relief breaks, assist with Material Handling as needed, and keep the floor stocked with necessary materials are also part of the role. Ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained, and ensuring a smooth transition between shifts are also expected. Various other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior plastic injection molding experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Possess or obtain a technical understanding of injection-molding processes and procedures.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, and Hearing Protection.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the floor stocked with materials required for production (fitments/handles/labels/tape, etc.).

  • Ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
