About The Position

The Mold Tech will report to the Shift Supervisor and possess functional leadership responsibilities. This role ensures production is operating and quality standards are maintained by leading by example and performing supervisory tasks such as designating Packer/Handlers and other team members to proper locations to meet production schedules. The Mold Tech works with the Shift Supervisor to operate, troubleshoot, document, and communicate on all equipment that is not performing within specifications, ensuring associates work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of injection molding machinery and processes to include mold set-ups, trouble shooting and exposure to maintenance problems.
  • Maintain efficient production levels in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to identify alpha / numeric product codes.
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and practices.
  • Must have a technical understanding of process and raw materials used.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules.
  • Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems.
  • Start up machines and monitor quality at start up.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to machines to maintain efficient production levels and document appropriately.
  • Respond to QA Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards.
  • Oversee proper packaging procedures.
  • Review production schedules and ensure machines are running production to meet customer demands.
  • Respond to alarms and/or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions and/or Packer/Handler problems.
  • Use proper Lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning machine operations and malfunctions.
  • Inspect scrap to prevent any usable product from being ground and record scrap numbers.
  • Be able to do the packer/handler job to assist with relief breaks.
  • Assist with Material Handling.
  • Keep the floor stocked with materials required for production (fitments/handles/labels/tape, etc….).
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Will need to cover for the supervisor in his absence.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints by taking to supervisor to resolve problems.
