The Mold Maker II is responsible for generating cutter paths, writing machine programs, setting up machines, checking shut offs, performing final fits, and assembling molds. This role involves working with designers and project managers to clarify any unclear areas in mold designs. The Mold Maker II will build and revise customer-owned molds, strategizing the sequence of operations and visualizing the shape of cavity and core work within the mold. They will read and interpret blueprints to match CAD files of the tool being built, verifying dimensions using various precision tools. The role requires an understanding of 3D files, sections, views, and projections, and the ability to operate all pertinent equipment to complete the mold build. The Mold Maker II will also provide input on the design of vents, cores, and gates to engineering, install necessary electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics, and train and guide apprentices. They are expected to complete mold builds within the given timeframe, plan their approach to maximize efficiency, and clearly communicate expectations from job shop worksheets to fellow workers. Additionally, the Mold Maker II will understand the principles of all cutting tools and processes, create drawings for specialized work, create polishing maps, and pull drawings from MasterCAM for associates.
