About The Position

The Mold Machine Operator A is responsible for operating molding machines to produce high-quality wax pattern and gating components. This role involves inspecting, trimming, and cleaning wax parts, as well as training less experienced operators. The operator must accurately prepare tooling dies, set up, monitor, and control mold machine functions, and ensure the dimensional integrity of the product by following technique cards and established set-up procedures. Safety is a key objective, requiring adherence to all plant and department safety rules and the safe operation of all equipment.

Requirements

  • Skill in the wax molding operations, as demonstrated by six to twelve months of competent performance of Molder OR any equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, load cards and other types of special instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Written language skills required.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • PCC's Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  • May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; changes die inserts as required.
  • Adds chills and soluble per Technique Cards.
  • Removes and cleans tooling after operation.
  • Performs minor repairs on tooling as required (TBO, LSBO only).
  • Sets up, monitors and controls mold machine functions.
  • Keeps dies and/or inserts clean during molding machine operations.
  • Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
  • Places on proper fixtures in order to maintain dimensional integrity of parts.
  • Ensures proper wax supplies are maintained for mold machine operation.
  • Initiates and implements corrective action to resolve quality and tooling problems as needed.
  • Develops and assists in tech card creation.
  • Completes logs and records.
  • Documents all modifications to process.
  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems.
  • Meets all production and quality standards.
  • May train less skilled operators as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.
  • May be required to work with hazardous waste.
