About The Position

Under general supervision, operates digging and backfilling equipment, such as backhoes, trenchers/backhoes, and payloaders. Loads and tows trailers for moving backhoes, trenching machines and payloaders. Performs all work in the Street Technician B classification and in addition: Digs, levels, and backfills main and service trenches with power operated equipment. Digs and backfills excavations to repair leaks and perform other forms of maintenance with power operated equipment. Grades, levels, and spreads patch on trenches and other excavations. When called upon, will perform street work and drive Street Department vehicles. Loads and tows trailers for moving backhoes, trencher/backhoes and payloaders. Makes minor field repairs and adjustments on vehicles and equipment used by him, such as: lubricating and cleaning equipment and assists in repairs; checks fuel, tightens bolts, nuts, screws.

Requirements

• Must have all the qualifications of Street Technician B.
• Demonstrate an ability to satisfactorily perform the duties of Street Technician "B" in a neat, competent, and workmanlike manner.
• Prove competent in the operation of Street Department vehicles and possess the appropriate Connecticut driver's license.
• Satisfactorily completes the training program for this job.
• Successfully complete Motor Vehicle Department tests for operating CDL Class A vehicles.
