About The Position

The Mold Line Operator participates in a 10-job rotation on a paced production line, performing the functions needed to create quality sand castings for memorial plates. This is a full-time, hourly position. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates must be willing to train in all areas of the mold line and cross-train as needed.

Requirements

Meet the position’s physical requirements, including repetitive bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects; lift up to 75 pounds; and stand for the entire shift.
Have good hand-eye coordination.
Perform a variety of duties and change tasks as needed to avoid production interruptions.
Work independently with little or no supervision.
Demonstrate problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including time management, improving efficiencies, and using independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency.
Have general math skills.
Read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
Read a tape measure in imperial and metric units.
Work as a self-motivated team member, follow safety protocols, and be willing to cross-train as needed.
Be willing to train in all areas of the mold line.

Responsibilities

Assemble the pattern, flask, gate, and core print to prepare for mold setup.
Monitor the spraying booth that applies releasing agent to the pattern.
Ensure the pattern meets work order specifications.
Scan work orders to record work performed in the JDE system as needed.
Adjust the sand machine to accommodate mold size.
Use a strike-off board to move sand, fill gaps, and remove excess sand from the mold.
Operate the sand machine to fan thin layers of sand.
Form and shape the sprue on the cope side of the mold.
Level sand so it is evenly distributed across the mold.
Break excess sand on the waste conveyor.
