Requirements

High School diploma or GED
1-2 years of previous dermatology, histology, or laboratory experience
One year of experience as a Mohs technician or a licensed histologist, or completion of the University of Florida Department of Dermatology Histotechnology Training Program: Mohs Surgery Frozen Section Processing 6-month program.
Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver'

Responsibilities

Prepare tissue specimens by processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining for examination by the Mohs surgeon.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including microtomes and cryostats.
Ensure accurate documentation and labeling of specimens and slides.
Perform routine and specialized histological and immunohistochemical staining techniques.
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and protocols.
Collaborate closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical staff to ensure timely processing and examination of specimens.
Monitor and order laboratory supplies to ensure efficient operation.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to tissue processing and staining.
Ensure quality control and assurance in all histological preparations.
