About The Position

This is a full-time position responsible for performing duties and providing specialist histotechnical services for Mohs micrographic surgery. The role requires a high degree of precision, critical thinking, and efficiency in preparing tissue specimens while supporting surgeons in a collaborative clinical environment. The position will support the Dermatology team at SouthPark.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field is required.
• Proficient in laboratory techniques with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Able to work effectively both independently and within a team setting.

Nice To Haves

• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Mohs histotechnology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut frozen sections from tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques
• Process and embed excised tissues to ensure optimal preparation for histological evaluation
• Perform histological staining techniques to prepare laboratory slides accurately
• Assure quality control of slides and maintain compliance with laboratory standards and protocols
• Document all processes in accordance with the Mohs procedure guidelines and laboratory policies
• Interact with patients and clinical staff in a friendly and professional manner
• Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments
• Maintain a safe and sterile laboratory environment while adhering to OSHA and CLIA regulations
• Complete additional tasks as assigned to support the laboratory operations
