About The Position

We are a fast-paced, busy Mohs and cosmetic surgery office in Plano seeking Medical Assistants with at least 2 years of experience in Mohs, dermatology, general or cosmetic surgery. We have full-time and part-time positions available for dependable, punctual, detail-oriented professionals who are self-starters and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Medical Assistant will support our providers and clinical team with patient care in a busy Mohs/plastic surgery/dermatology setting. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, scribing, assisting with procedures, preparing surgical trays, supporting patient flow, documenting in the EMR, suture removals and providing compassionate care to patients before, during, and after visits or procedures.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mohs, dermatology surgery, plastic/cosmetic surgery, or a related field.
  • Proficient in medical administrative support and direct patient care.
  • Skilled in scribing, assisting providers, and documenting in an EHR system.
  • Experience with patient intake, medical terminology, and clinical workflows.
  • Dependable, punctual, professional, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mohs, Dermatology and/or plastic/cosmetic surgery experience.
  • Experience using ModMed EMA for EMR and PMS.
  • Experience assisting with sutures, closures, wound care, and surgical procedures.
  • Surgical tech experience or knowledge of surgical procedures.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit.
  • Assist providers with general dermatology, surgical dermatology, Mohs, cosmetic, and plastic surgery visits.
  • Scribe and document accurately in ModMed EMA.
  • Prepare exam rooms and surgical rooms for procedures.
  • Set up and maintain sterile surgical trays and assist with sterile technique.
  • Assist with biopsies, excisions, Mohs procedures, repairs, wound care, dressing changes, and suture removals.
  • Properly label and handle specimens according to office protocol.
  • Review pre-operative and post-operative instructions with patients.
  • Support patient intake, patient education, and follow-up care.
  • Assist with Accutane and biologic medication workflows.
  • Assist with PDT treatments.
  • Stock rooms, maintain clinical supplies, and keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and office safety standards.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, providers, and team members.
