About The Position

Derick Dermatology is seeking a Mohs Medical Assistant to provide patient care under the direction of a surgical provider, assisting with Mohs procedures and excisions. Duties include patient intake, procedure setup, surgical assistance, and administrative tasks. The role is primarily assigned to surgical shifts; general dermatology shifts may be offered when surgical shifts are unavailable. The Medical Assistant must be flexible and willing to travel to other surgical locations when needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Friendly, polite, and professional demeanor.
Clear communication skills.
Proficiency with an electronic medical records (EMR) system.
General dermatology Medical Assistant experience.
Flexibility and willingness to travel to other surgical locations when needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Nextech EMR.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Ability to multitask and manage time wisely.

Responsibilities

Room patients and verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical histories, and confirming the purpose of visits.
Collect and process blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens in compliance with CLIA regulations.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, aftercare, and providers’ instructions to patients.
Clean and sterilize medical instruments and use sterile technique when assembling surgical trays.
Document patient visits and record appropriate charges for the billing department.
Perform follow-up calls to patients after surgical procedures.
Assist providers with patient examinations and treatment by handing them instruments or materials, giving injections, removing sutures, and performing phlebotomy.
Clean examination rooms and other work areas and stock inventory as needed.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
