About The Position

The Mohs Histotechnician plays a vital role in supporting the Mohs surgeon by ensuring accurate and efficient preparation of tissue specimens. This includes assisting with specimen grossing, tissue processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and maintaining a clean and well-functioning laboratory environment.

Requirements

  • 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours in science courses, with at least 6 hours in chemistry, 6 hours in biology, and 12 hours in a combination of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology.
  • Associate degree in chemical or biological sciences or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of 60 semester hours (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Mohs procedures.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL, ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT, ASCP).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory equipment operation.
  • Mohs Surgery Experience
  • A proactive, dependable, and detail-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with specimen grossing, tissue processing, embedding, cutting, staining.
  • Maintain a clean and well-functioning laboratory environment.
  • Embed, cut, stain, and mount tissue specimens efficiently and in adherence to established policies, procedures, and laboratory standards.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with superiors, peers, physicians, and patients.
  • Maintain strong organizational abilities and proficiency in relevant computer applications.
