Purpose: The Mohs Histotechnician is responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by preparing and processing high-quality tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
  • ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Mohs histotechnology laboratory strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States in a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification
  • Previous experience in a Mohs histotechnology laboratory

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques.
  • Process and embed tissue samples efficiently for histopathological evaluation.
  • Perform various staining techniques to prepare slides ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Document procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and CLIA regulatory standards.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with surgical and clinical teams to facilitate smooth Mohs procedures.
  • Provide guidance and training to laboratory staff as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain and improve histotechnical skills.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead.
