The Mohs Histotech in Hickory, NC, plays a vital role in supporting our Mohs surgical team by preparing and processing tissue specimens with precision and efficiency. This position is responsible for producing high-quality slides, maintaining laboratory quality standards, and contributing to exceptional patient outcomes in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or related discipline required.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States in a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and section frozen tissue specimens using Mohs micrographic surgical techniques.
  • Process, embed, and stain tissue samples accurately to facilitate examination by the Mohs surgeon.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures to ensure slides meet laboratory and clinical standards.
  • Document all procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and surgical teams to support efficient workflow and outstanding patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile laboratory environment.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with histology techniques and best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory and clinical operations.
