Mohs Histotech Job Description Summary: This is a part-time position, working 1-2 days per week. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and scrub allowance. This position reports to the Office Coordinator. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Setting up the lab for each day Filling stainer with necessary chemicals Complete Mohs log book Getting cryostat ready Make appropriate slides for the day Completing frozen sections in a timely, efficient manor Putting slides in hematoxylin and eosin stainer Cover slipping slides Filing slides Shutting down lab – cleaning cryostat, emptying necessary chemicals, Maintaining lab supplies, notify manager when stock is low Preparing Mohs maps and consent paperwork Call patients to give biopsy results and scheduling their Mohs appointments Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of experience in a similar position Preferred: Knowledge of OSHA/CLIA standards, at least one year of experience performing processes to prepare tissue samples for diagnostic evaluation, Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting, possible bending, lifting up to 20 lbs., frequent use of medical equipment, ability to focus, exposure to lab chemicals, repetitive head, neck, hands, wrist & arm motions, good motor skills and hand/eye coordination. Work environment: Primarily lab setting, working independently, but constantly communicating with surgeons, office coordinator, and co-workers
