About The Position

Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Conduct definition and trade-off studies of RGB camera optics, sensors, actuator, and packaging. Interact with optical, electrical, process, controls systems, sensing, test, and mechanical teams on integration of camera hardware into products. Lead offshore manufacturing partners on camera design evaluation, product prototype builds, and qualification. Work on failure analysis and corrective action implementation at manufacturing sites as well as remotely, including assembly processes, testing, and calibration; parametric-data analysis of end-offline yield and post-reliability failures. Evaluate and debug camera HW at module and product levels for Camera and Depth Design and Integration. Document of camera-specific design, test, and manufacturing requirements. Review camera photoshoots with the validation team and work with optical teams to determine best options to optical elements and coatings improvements of image quality over multiple iterations of prototype builds. Collaborate with system partners to co-design and integrate camera modules into system form factors mechanically, electrically, and optically with high standards of reliability in consideration. International and domestic travel required 15% 40 hours/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related field.
  • Working with Camera system architecture, including optical and electro-mechanical systems, digital sensor, and image signal processing.
  • Defining quantitative metric systems to establish engineering requirements that align with product objectives and manufacturing requirements.
  • Conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions across mechanical, electrical, optical, and firmware systems to improve design, manufacturing yield, and reliability.
  • Utilizing data analysis and visualization tools including MATLAB and JMP for effective engineering assessment and risk communication across multiple teams.
  • Utilizing mechanical modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) to assess structural or thermal integrity of a product and to guide the design.
  • Working with electrical systems to assess power delivery and signal integrity of electrical circuits.
  • Working with firmware systems and their communication protocols to design and conduct failure analysis on a system with multiple sensor inputs and controls.
  • Rapid prototyping for early visualization, cost reduction, and effective communication with multiple stakeholders throughout the product development process.
  • Designing experiments by setting and validating hypotheses through detailed plans of data collection and validation criteria.
