About The Position

Modular Genius, Inc. is a turnkey, modular building contractor offering permanent construction and relocatable commercial modular buildings. Our mission is to consistently provide and continually improve modular construction by offering modular buildings that add value to our customers’ goals. Our Modular Service Technicians are multi-functional, inspecting buildings, performing repairs or readiness work including framing and finish carpentry, light electrical, flooring, plumbing, painting, running gear, and more to our fleet of modular buildings. An eye for quality and a commitment to safety is critical for this role!

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment is a must.
  • Some knowledge of computers is necessary, and good communications skills are required for dealing with customers, salespeople, contractors, shop personnel as well as Williams Scotsman employees at various branch locations.
  • Must have carpentry knowledge and experience.
  • Prior construction experience is a must.
  • Able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Able to perform typical construction math computations (i.e. adding and subtracting feet, inches, and fractions).
  • Able to lift 75 pounds by yourself.
  • Able to work at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Able to work in small areas (i.e. 18” crawl space under building).
  • Able to work outdoors, year-round on typical construction sites.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule.
  • Must be willing to travel and stay overnight for up to a week at a time.
  • Must have reliable means of communication (i.e. Cell Phone).
  • Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, plumbing, and welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Modular Genius, Inc. Safety Policies, OSHA, customer and/or site-specific safety requirements.
  • Abide by all Modular Genius, Inc. policies as found in the “Modular Genius, Inc. Employee Handbook”.
  • Lead and act to promote employee health and safety results through creating a safer workplace, training and observations.
  • Attend safety meetings.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing hazards and debris from the work areas.
  • Operate a company vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver's license and excellent driving record free from points.
  • Perform repairs to mobile office trailers including framing and finish carpentry, electrical, flooring, plumbing, painting, running gear, and all other facets of modular building repair.
  • Perform check-in/out (inbound/outbound) inspections of returned buildings by physically inspecting to determine repair scope of work, as well as damages for invoicing the customer. Create floor plan drawings as needed.
  • Perform modifications as requested by customers.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of all equipment/tools/parts/VAPS needed for service tasks.
  • Provide courteous customer service as needed over the phone and in person. Explain all repairs and services to customers.
  • Ensure modulars are ready for scheduled delivery dates at stated quality levels.
  • Perform service-related tasks in the yard as requested.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for deliveries, pick-ups and service calls.
  • Perform HVAC system checks and maintenance per company guidelines.
  • May be assigned duties at field locations as business needs.
  • Perform necessary tasks during the installation of modular units at the project site. Duties include, but are not limited to, digging and/or erecting foundations and piers, rigging, removing and discarding shipping materials, removal of hitches, axles, and tires, installation of structural connections, installation of interior & exterior finishes, painting, roof seaming & flashing, installation of crawl space skirting, installation of gutters & downspouts, typical construction layout (i.e. walls, foundation/footing/piers).
  • Perform necessary tasks during the removal of modular units at the project site. Duties are similar to installation but in reverse order.
  • Perform warranty and /or service repairs as required.
  • Operate equipment such as: company trucks, Trans lift, skid-steer/track loader, all-terrain forklift, boom lift, scissor lift and other equipment as required.
  • Perform visual inspections of company trucks, trailers, and equipment on a regular basis and communicate maintenance needs with the Foreman and/or Site Superintendent.
  • Loading and unloading building materials as required.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in typical outdoor construction environments.
  • Proficient use of typical hand tools and power tools such as tape measure, hammer, utility knife, metal snips, pneumatic fasteners (nail guns), cordless power tools (drill, screw gun, recip. saw), corded power tools (circular saw, hammer drill, miter saw, grinders), pressure washers, and other typical carpentry/construction tools.
  • Follow instructions from the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and other Modular Genius, Inc. Management.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
  • Record hours worked using the ADP application on a smart phone at the end of each workday.
