About The Position

CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation. The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 5–8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future. The Modification Team Lead will report to the Area Manager and will be responsible for reviewing relevant design documentation, and providing guidance to the design team.

Requirements

  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing.
  • Experience within the Nuclear sector, in particular life extension and refurbishments.
  • Good knowledge of Nuclear facility mechanical and process equipment.
  • Proficiency in office-related software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel. In addition, knowledge of Engineering Software would be an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant codes and standards, in particular CSA N285.0 and ASME III.
  • Excellent client service, written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in dealing with the CNSC and TSSA.

Responsibilities

  • Primary interface with OPG-Design Team lead (DTL)
  • Overall responsibility for OPG–ECC adherence and SLN QA within the design team
  • Participate in technical reviews of design packages for both Categories 1 & 2 tooling
  • Ensuring quality, consistency and neatness of RFR packages across all design team disciplines
  • SPOC for COIR within the team – maintain with current revision and rollout changes to JV team
  • SPOC for updates to Asset Suite (Passport) within OPG
  • Responsible to coordinate/conduct design review meetings and COMS meetings
  • Ensure open item and Action items are implemented in the detailed design documents.
  • Supporting all Engineering activities in compliance with the COIR.
  • Evaluate efficiency of office engineering practice and programs.
  • Assisting with the technical mentoring of Project personnel and supervising the engineering team’s performance and quality of work.
