About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, the Modification Engineering Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for Alyeska's Modification Engineering Department. This role is responsible for ensuring engineering excellence, technical integrity, organizational capability, and alignment of engineering activities with Alyeska's business objectives and the safe, reliable operation of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). Specifically, the role leads problem development, alternatives analysis, design engineering, engineering field support, and design engineering services regarding modifications to TAPS. As a member of Alyeska's Extended Leadership Team, the Modification Engineering Director collaborates across the organization to deliver strategic initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and support long-term system performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible engineering leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams and managing external engineering contractors.
  • Strong business acumen with experience of balancing technical, operational, and financial priorities.
  • Proven leadership in organizational change, continuous improvement, and workforce development.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to drive results in a complex, multidisciplinary operating environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading engineering activities within large industrial, energy, pipeline, or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting complex modifications and upgrades to brownfield facilities.
  • Demonstrated success working across interdisciplinary teams and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on critical schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Modification Engineering organization, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Establish and execute departmental strategies that support corporate objectives and long-term business needs.
  • Direct Alyeska's engineering governance, standards, processes, and technical compliance programs.
  • Provide oversight and stewardship of contracted engineering design and consulting services.
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and technical integrity of engineering deliverables.
  • Lead complex engineering studies, evaluations, and technical decision-making affecting TAPS operations and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, System Integrity, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
  • Champion continuous improvement and organizational change initiatives that enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Oversee department budgets and ensure sound financial stewardship of modification engineering resources and investments.
  • Ensure modification engineering activities support Alyeska's Safety Management System, including occupational and process safety objectives.
  • Guide the development and evaluation of technically sound and economically viable solutions to complex business and operational challenges.
