About The Position

This is a 9-week paid internship opportunity on the Model Risk Oversight Team at Charles Schwab, focusing on revolutionizing model risk management through software technologies. The program includes a business track project, an intern cohort project, learning activities, community volunteering, networking, and personal strength exploration. The Model Risk Oversight team is part of the corporate risk management department and reviews models used by the firm, measuring individual and aggregate model risks. The internship offers core business tracks in Model Validation and Software Engineering.

Requirements

Enrolled in a PhD or master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field.
Able to start full-time employment between August 2027-September 2028.
Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
Ability to work full time and be on-site at the Schwab Southlake location during the 9-week program (June 7 to August 8, 2026).
Working knowledge in object-oriented programming with C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, database design, ETL, etc.
Course work or experience in using AI Tools to create software applications, such as Github, Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, etc.
Resourcefulness and flexibility, enjoying working through cross-functional partnerships, and collaborating to achieve a common purpose.

Course work or experience in building solutions.
Interest in model risk management, model validation, governance, or quantitative analytics.
Experience applying analytical, statistical, or modeling techniques through coursework, research, internships, or projects.
Experience documenting analysis, testing results, or technical findings for review by others.
