About The Position

The Mobility Tech role at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Acute Rehab is a full-time position responsible for ensuring the safe and effective activity, ambulation, and mobility of patients. This includes assisting patients with various tasks such as moving to the bathroom, performing unskilled exercises as delegated, positioning, transferring, and transporting patients, which may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling. The role also involves assisting patients with sitting up for meals, setting up meal trays, and ensuring clean linens. Maintaining a clean and safe environment, responding to patient call lights, and maintaining work equipment are also key duties. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and the ability to assess and interpret patient status based on age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • BLS
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively ensure activity, ambulation, and mobility of patients.
  • May assist with ambulation to the bathroom.
  • May assist with unskilled exercises as delegated by RN.
  • Assists with patient positioning and proning, transferring, and transporting duties, which may require lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • May assist patients with sitting up in a chair for meals and setting up meals trays for patients as indicated.
  • May assist in ensuring patient linens are clean and repositioned as indicated.
  • Maintains clean and safe environment.
  • May assist in responding to patient call lights.
  • May assist in maintaining work equipment and storage areas.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
