This role performs activities specific to patient safety and mobility under the supervision of a licensed PT/PTA/OT/COTA or SLP, or for a Registered Nurse while following Progressive Mobility (PM) duties as well as safe and efficient transportation of patients from setting to setting in the acute care setting. Performs designated routine patient mobilization tasks and coordinates daily unit specific patient mobilization activities. Documents Transport functions on Command Center, relays Progressive Mobility Rounds to pt nurse and works under the direction of PT/OT/SLP regarding assistance with therapy per individual pt. Mobility techs also perform additional administrative duties as assigned specific to Progressive Mobility.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Satisfactory completion of Mobility Tech Competency within 90 day Introductory Evaluation.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Rehab services on-the-job training program.
  • Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Complete understanding of AIDET and CARES, as well as HIPPA standards.
  • Working knowledge of EPIC, ROVER and Outlook software.
  • Understanding and compliance with proper and safe body mechanics.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital and/or patient care experience preferred.
  • Current or future pursuit of medical licensure in any field applicable to an acute care setting.
  • Excel and Word processing skills preferred.
