About The Position

This position is a mobile operator position serving NSU’s Southern New Jersey Service Area. The Mobile Wastewater Operator provides operations and maintenance support to various wastewater facilities as directed. The Mobile Operator is an independent and well-organized self-starter who is capable of managing his or her schedule to complete assigned site coverage requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Hold a valid NJ: S-2 and C-2 Wastewater Licenses at the minimum.
  • 40-hour work week: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (30-minute lunch).
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Available for emergency situations.
  • Available for 24 hours on call rotation.
  • Valid US driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of water and wastewater experience is preferred.
  • NJ S-2 and C-2 Wastewater licenses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance.
  • Assist in preparing monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required.
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards.
  • Participates in a 24 hour on call rotation.
  • Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel.
  • Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance.
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation within the designated service area.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal.
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route.
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
  • Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
