About The Position

The Mobile Trailer Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and emergency roadside service on commercial trailers at customer locations. This position serves as a direct representative of the company in the field and is expected to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality service while maintaining exceptional customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of commercial trailer systems and repair procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements and maintain insurability.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical or vocational training in trailer repair or related field preferred.
  • Previous trailer repair experience preferred.
  • Experience with brake systems, suspension systems, electrical diagnostics, and welding preferred.
  • Mobile service experience preferred.
  • DOT Annual Inspection Certification preferred.
  • Brake Certification preferred.
  • Welding certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and DOT inspections on commercial trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair key trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, wheel-end assemblies, landing gear, electrical and lighting systems, air systems, doors, liftgates, and structural components.
  • Repair or replace damaged trailer components such as floors, roofs, side panels, and rear frames.
  • Travel to customer locations to complete scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies on assigned service vehicles.
  • Accurately record labor hours, repairs, parts usage, and inspection results.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and management regarding repair status, timelines, and recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with dispatch, service management, parts teams, and other technicians.
