About The Position

The Mobile Trailer Technician II at FleetPride is expected to have mastered all applications of Preventative Maintenance and to perform basic and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements with limited supervision on Class 7 and 8 trailers. Additionally, this role involves performing basic diagnostic operations to successfully diagnose trailer system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. The technician will also work in the shop between service calls and may be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed. FleetPride is the largest after-market distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the U.S., with a sophisticated network of over 450 locations, more than 110 service centers, and six distribution centers, employing over 5,500 experts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trailers
  • Carpentry fabrication and welding experience
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required
  • Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox
  • Maintain perfect safety record
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational and/or Welding certificate/degree
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities

  • Examine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)
  • Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipment
  • Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate
  • Maintain 80% productivity
  • Prevent comebacks
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of trailers and equipment
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements
  • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories)
  • Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations
  • Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems
  • Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding
  • File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck
  • Practice safe driving
  • Other duties assigned
