About The Position

The role involves conducting comprehensive preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty tractors and equipment, ensuring optimal vehicle performance and safety. This technician operates a service truck, performing on-site inspections—often in challenging weather conditions—and is responsible for the upkeep of the truck itself. Duties include diagnosing and addressing vehicle breakdowns, replacing and adjusting worn or damaged components, and verifying repairs through test drives. Additionally, the technician handles tire services, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, maintains meticulous vehicle records, and manages costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating service options.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Class B license.
  • Technical understanding with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to implement a strong safety environment at all times.
  • Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to pass post-offer drug screening, physical examination (including a lift test), and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
  • Fleet and mobile maintenance experience a plus.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to company policies in all areas.
  • Must have a basic set of hand tools up to 1 ½”and ½ drive pneumatics.
  • Capable of maintaining accurate inventory control.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state vehicle regulations.
  • Maintaining meticulous vehicle records, including services and repairs.
  • Managing costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating service options.
