About The Position

The Mobile Outreach Driver plays an integral role in supporting CCHC Mobile Clinic, an on-site Clinic-On-Wheels. This role brings healthcare professionals and educators together to address the multifaceted needs of adults, children, youth, and family members in the broader community. The driver will deliver general primary care services, dental, and behavioral health services in the community and schools. The primary responsibility is to transport the mobile clinic to different locations to provide healthcare services to communities in need. The Mobile Outreach Driver will be in charge of driving and maintaining the mobile clinic vehicle, ensuring its safety and functionality. Overall, this role is crucial in supporting the mobile healthcare team’s mission to deliver essential medical services to underserved populations and improve overall community health.

Requirements

  • One (1) year van driving experience preferred.
  • Valid CA driver’s License.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Keen on working in a fast-paced environment where requirements can change on a dime.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the mobile clinic vehicle, adhering to traffic and parking rules and regulations.
  • Plan and organize the route to reach various locations efficiently.
  • Assist healthcare personnel in setting up the mobile clinic vehicle at each site.
  • Ensure that vehicles have sufficient gas and are always ready for use.
  • Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
  • Provide a friendly and professional demeanor while interacting with patients and the community.
  • Be aware of emergency procedures and handle situations effectively if they arise during travel or at the clinic site.
  • Regularly inspect the vehicle and report any mechanical issues or repairs needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the mobile clinic vehicle.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with the healthcare team to relay any updates or changes in the schedule, patient flow, or logistical concerns.
  • Implement safety protocols while driving, especially when the mobile clinic is in operation, to provide a secure environment for patients and staff.
  • Display cultural sensitivity and respect while interacting with patients from different backgrounds, understanding the importance of diversity and inclusivity in healthcare.
  • Load and unload supplies and equipment from the mobile as instructed for clinic operation and services on-site.
  • Follow schedule as provided on the itinerary with attention to punctuality, care, and accuracy.
  • Utilize navigation apps to find most optimal routes.
  • Provide transportation for medical staff to office or events as requested by Director of Outreach and Community Engagement.
  • Ensure that mobile van and all equipment is properly protected from the outdoor elements.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioner and Medical Assistant when transporting temperature-sensitive medical supplies, understand alarms and data-logging equipment to ensure that handling protocols are followed.
  • Provide feedback to Director of Outreach on customer issues, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
  • Assist with setting up basic event equipment: tents, tables, signs, chairs, van awning, etc.
  • Check email daily for updates regarding schedules and itinerary.
  • Perform other functions as needed.
