About The Position

This role operates authorized emergency vehicles in emergency and non-emergency situations, responding to calls to support patient care and transport under supervision. The position involves maintaining the readiness of vehicles, equipment, and supplies, and communicating effectively with dispatch, healthcare professionals, and EMS team members. The EMT Trainee is responsible for completing required documentation and participating in education, training, and certification activities, while representing the organization professionally in community and patient interactions.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain EMT certification within defined timeframe
  • Successful completion of a College-Level English course OR possession of a high school diploma, high school equivalency certificate or successful completion of an exam assessing basic reading comprehension skills at a minimum of an eleventh-grade level.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No prior EMS experience required
  • Safe vehicle operation

  • Ability to follow protocols and direction
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of vehicles, machinery and equipment as required to meet the essential job functions of an Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Must be able to exert up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects and people.
  • Physical requirements are for Heavy Work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service, healthcare, or safety sensitive roles preferred
  • Basic medical terminology and concepts (training level)
