About The Position

Acme Barricades is seeking a dedicated and goal-oriented Mobile Fleet Mechanic to join their successful team. This role is responsible for maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records. The Fleet Mechanic works under the direction of the Fleet Manager, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities while adhering to safety objectives and company processes. Requirements

  • Must have electrical and drivability diagnostic experience.
  • 1-3 years of Mechanic experience of Diesel and Gas engines for on-highway vehicles.
  • Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must pass MVR and controlled substance test.
  • May require background and criminal record check.
  • Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Willing to travel to different branch locations as needed using company provided service truck.
  • May require occasional overnight stay.
  • ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory.
  • Off-Highway equipment experience such as front-end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts.
  • Experience in performing Annual Federal DOT Inspections.
  • Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Correct vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Keep vehicle/equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
  • Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Verify vehicle/equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle/equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintain vehicle/equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop vehicle/equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Travel to different branch locations as needed using a company-provided service truck.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities.
  • Maintain safety objectives and company processes.
