Help keep Louisiana’s roads and bridges safe while building a long-term career in public service. This position offers hands-on work, paid training, and opportunities for career growth within DOTD. This position is part of a District Wide Heavy Facility/Road Maintenance crew that is responsible for painting, using various hand tools, operating heavy equipment such as: asphalt paving machines, large roller, tack truck and milling machine for asphalt and milling operations, installing large cross drain culverts, assisting with erosion repair jobs and various facility maintenance projects throughout District 62. This position is located at the Independence maintenance unit and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. The incumbent is required to possess a Class A CDL, pass random drug screens, have working knowledge of a computer, and be able to lift 50 lbs. While in official capacity, DOTD manuals, and directives. applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals and directives.
