About The Position

York Building Products is seeking a skilled Mobile Equipment Mechanic with expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy machinery. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, welding, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment such as loaders, dozers, excavators, and trucks. The position offers opportunities for continuous learning through dealer training to stay current with equipment technology. The work environment is hands-on, both indoors and outdoors, and requires physical activity. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who can work independently and as part of a team, ensuring equipment downtime is minimized and operations run smoothly and safely.

Requirements

3+ years of experience working on diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment.
Knowledge of diesel engines, including engine overhauls.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and brake problems.
Experience with OEM diagnostic software.
Ability to diagnose equipment issues through observation and listening.
Ability to work independently and as part of a strong team.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Willingness to work overtime when the job calls for it.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment and trucks.
Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, and electrical systems.
Perform preventative maintenance and keep equipment running strong.
Use OEM diagnostic software to find problems and get to the root cause.
Inspect equipment and document repairs and maintenance in our CMMS system.
Test equipment after repairs to make sure it's safe and ready to get back to work.
Help keep downtime to a minimum by prioritizing repairs and staying ahead of problems.
Fabricate, modify, and install parts and equipment using welders, torches, plasma cutters, and other shop tools.
Work alongside a team that understands that when the equipment stops, the whole operation feels it.
Follow YBP safety procedures and MSHA/OSHA requirements.
