About The Position

FerroWorks’ McConway and Torley is seeking a Mechanic to assist production crews with mechanical and machine operations, buildings, facilities, and related equipment. The role primarily involves working on and servicing the plant’s mobile equipment. The mechanic works with readily available technical guidance to keep equipment in good repair and may assist more experienced maintenance mechanics as assigned. The position is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and requires availability to work any shift. The work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas, and plant grounds.

Requirements

At least 2 years of related experience.
High school diploma.
Must be able to work any shift.
Ability to tolerate high and low temperatures and loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant.
Observe required safety practices and use safety equipment, including safety glasses, safety boots, and hearing protection as required.

Responsibilities

Keep mobile equipment in good repair with readily available technical guidance.
Respond in a timely manner to work orders and management requests.
Examine machines to diagnose problems and recommend repairs.
Dismantle mobile equipment, replace defective parts, reassemble equipment, and make adjustments to ensure efficient operation.
Assist more experienced maintenance mechanics as assigned.
Follow safety regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
Remain aware of hazards while working around equipment, chemicals, and machinery.
Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
