About The Position

Expedia Group is hiring a Mobile Engineer II - iOS for its Modern Checkout team. The team makes the booking process smooth and clear for travelers worldwide, supporting complex travel products for a range of customers. The role develops and maintains engaging, high-performance iOS applications used by millions of people, primarily with Swift and SwiftUI. It also works with a server-driven UI framework and GraphQL backend services, with opportunities to contribute to those services. The engineer collaborates with product, design, backend, and mobile platform teams to deliver cohesive, scalable traveler experiences. The role includes participating in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions; improving CI/CD, automated testing, and application performance; and enhancing reliability, accessibility, and customer satisfaction. The engineer is expected to stay current with iOS development trends and help guide the adoption of new technologies and frameworks. Expedia Group’s flexible work model requires employees in this role to work in the Seattle office at least three days a week. Relocation assistance is not offered.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
At least 2 years of professional experience developing and shipping iOS applications using Swift.
Experience with RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming, and mobile networking.
Proficiency with Git and experience working in Scrum or Kanban agile environments.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing and releasing apps at scale, including App Store submission and release processes.
Experience with GraphQL APIs and server-driven UI frameworks.
Experience working in AI-assisted development environments.
Experience with backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or Node.js.
Familiarity with CI/CD systems and mobile testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of performance tuning, accessibility, and analytics for mobile apps.
Ability to partner effectively across disciplines to deliver customer-focused features.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for improving the traveler experience.
Enthusiasm for experimentation, learning, and building products in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain engaging, high-performance iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI.
Work with a server-driven UI framework that enables rapid user-facing updates while using native platform capabilities.
Integrate mobile applications with GraphQL backend services, with opportunities to work on those services.
Use AI tools to automate routine work and focus on creative problem-solving.
Collaborate with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive, scalable traveler experiences.
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical design sessions with mobile and platform engineers.
Contribute to CI/CD improvements, automated testing, and mobile application performance optimization.
Identify and implement technical improvements to enhance reliability, accessibility, and customer satisfaction.
Stay current with iOS development trends and help guide adoption of new technologies and frameworks.
