About The Position

GTG Peterbilt – Wichita, a premier provider of quality products and services to commercial equipment end users. We currently carry a full line of parts in our inventory along with maintenance and repair services. When you build your career at GTG Peterbilt, you make a commitment to being the very best in the business. We have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Technician. The successful candidate will travel to client sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for diesel vehicles and equipment to include but are not limited to engine services, brake service, engine diagnosis, inspections, cooling system service, etc. Most common service calls include scheduled services and repairs, break down response, DOT inspections, scheduled PM services upon request.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Minimum DOT Inspection Certified (additional schooling and certifications preferred).
  • Must be able to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
  • Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Experience interacting directly with customers with high levels of customer service and communication skills.
  • Must have neat, legible handwriting.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Current CDL or be able to attain within 90 days of hire.
  • Clean driving record, pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform instructed and scheduled repair, maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as instructed by the Service Manager.
  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator concerns.
  • Conducting CVI and DOT inspections.
  • Diagnosing and repair of minor engine issues.
  • Repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
  • Replacing basic parts and components.
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional manner on job status and schedule status.
  • Communicate regularly with Service Management on job status and schedule status.
  • Maintain appearance and service truck in a professional manner.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Stock and maintain service truck inventory, tool collection, and all necessary paperwork daily (candidate to provide own tools).
  • Adhere to all traffic laws.
  • Must be able to work independently and communicate with team when needed.
