The role involves identifying and performing warrantable repairs, using various hand and power tools, maintaining a safe work area, and road testing vehicles. Routine maintenance, inspecting defective equipment, adjusting safety devices, and verifying part specifications are also key functions. The technician will specialize in repairing major components and may mentor other technicians. Ensuring compliance with DOT standards and accurate documentation within the maintenance system are crucial. The role may also involve fleet analyses and miscellaneous projects.
