About The Position

The Choices Jefferson Parish Mobile Crisis Team is responsible for 24/7 mobile emergency responses for youth and adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis in Jefferson Parish. The MCS team operates from a strengths-based perspective, collaborating with first responders, community stakeholders, clinical leadership, and fellow mobile crisis responders. The MCS team will work within a culture of crisis prevention, making every effort to ensure individuals are effectively stabilized within their home and community whenever possible. The MCS team will ensure appropriate follow-up for individuals who have experienced a crisis event and ensure linkage to ongoing supports and services, operating in an enhanced localized crisis response system contributing to the goal of increased community stabilization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related human services.
  • Current licensure by the state(s) in which work is assigned as Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor.
  • Significant supervisory experience that promotes leadership and initiative in line staff, successful team building, consensus building, conflict resolution, staff development, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing culturally competent services and creating services for culturally diverse populations.
  • Expertise in strength-based programming, crisis intervention, family systems theory, multi-systems care coordination, and case management.
  • Demonstrated skill in fiscal management activities, team building, and communication.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, auto insurance and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes the clinical vision for staff.
  • Works with Clinical Manager to ensure that Choices is compliant with current contract requirements.
  • Participates in the hiring, training, and retention of staff at the assigned site.
  • Works with key Choices leadership personnel to establish strategic plan and quality improvement processes approved by Choices.
  • Uses data from the electronic health record and other sources to guide decision-making for supervision of care coordinators and care coordination.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Willingly completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Choices.
  • Provides appropriate clinical supervision and oversight to Clinical Evaluators and Support Specialists to promote the safety and well-being of consumers, families, and the community.
  • Provides effective supervision to assigned clinicians and addresses identified performance issues in a timely, consistent, and fair manner.
  • Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day activities.
  • Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Provides clear expectations for each supervised employee.
  • In collaboration with the site’s Clinical Manager, lead the local Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) team and make sure that the site is in compliance with all COA requirements.
  • Models effective coaching and mentoring skills with clinicians.
  • Trains staff on how to gather and use data to effectively serve consumers.
  • Provides consultation to collaborating community agencies concerning consumers with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Models Choices’ Values and follows Choices’ Guiding Principles within the community at all times.
  • Works closely with the local site’s Clinical Manager to facilitate effective communication, clinical training, and relationships with funders, partners, providers, families, and other community members.
  • Uses assigned electronic record and other data collection and reporting mechanisms to monitor the program and to inform quality improvement, supervision, training, and coaching activities across sites.
  • Effectively uses remote video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype etc.
  • Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
  • Implements processes necessary that establish quality standards, including, timeline requirements, productivity, and outcomes are met consistently with assigned staff.
  • Maintains an effective and productive team providing consistent support, supervision, and performance feedback.
  • Builds support and inspires confidence through clear communication.

  • Responsible for the team’s immediate face to face interventions and safety planning to help reduce the intensity of the crisis experience that would lead to hospitalization and will monitor the entire process from the initial crisis call through the intervention and up to referrals for community based, ongoing support services.
  • Provides effective guidance and training for staff.
