About The Position

Terros Health is seeking Master's level interns for our Glendale Crisis location. We are a healthcare organization focused on whole person health, integrating physical, mental, and substance use care. We encourage students passionate about community health seeking clinical rotations or traditional internships with a leading healthcare organization to apply to the Terros Health Student Program. We are looking for individuals currently enrolled in a Master's Program with an emphasis in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other behavioral health specialties. Please provide details about your University/College, program, semester dates, and supervisor credentials. The Crisis Department is accepting Master's program students. Prior experience in crisis work is a plus. The internship is located in Glendale, AZ, with flexible operation hours as the department is 24/7. A commitment of at least one weekday per week is preferred. Under the supervision of a qualified Terros Health professional, the student-intern will perform tasks related to their field of study and learning contract. This role offers an opportunity to apply and learn principles, theory, and knowledge from coursework in a professional healthcare setting. Upon completion, students will gain a strong understanding of the community behavioral health system, develop strong skills in crisis assessment (including suicide risk assessment) for all ages and presenting complaints, enhance skills in crisis intervention for all ages and presenting complaints, and improve skills in interacting and coordinating with community stakeholders such as hospital staff and law enforcement. Interns are expected to maintain detailed notes of their practice and study.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's Program with an emphasis in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other behavioral health specialties.
  • Currently enrolled in a supervised field instruction class.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Completion of the pre-student/Intern/Practicum onboarding process (may include criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen).
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for one within 7 working days of assuming the role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks related to their specific area of study and the Intern learning contract under the supervision of a qualified Terros Health professional.
  • Apply and continue to learn by practical application the principles, theory, and knowledge from their related coursework.
  • Keep copious notes detailing the areas of practice and study reinforced in this learning opportunity.
