About The Position

BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center providing and coordinating behavioral health services for adults and children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron, and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health is a major entry point for DMH-funded mental health services and acts as a gatekeeper to the public mental health system. This role is part of the Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) team, which works with clients of all ages in active crisis who have reached out via 988 and require in-person assessment and support within the BJC Behavioral Health catchment area. The work is performed in the community, wherever the individual in crisis is located. The team is a 24/7/365 program composed of mental health professionals with varying levels of education and Peer Support Specialists. Team members are considered primary members of an MCR team, taking the lead on assessments, documentation, and clinical decisions during dispatches.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Human Services or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Class D (IL) or Class E (MO) license
  • Experience with clients in crisis preferred
  • Ability to manage stress
  • Comfort with change
  • Solutions-oriented and focused on client strengths/resources
  • Willing/able to participate in a collaborative environment between staff and leaders

Responsibilities

  • Provides community support services to complex clients, including those on a care plan, using treatment plan interventions that result in positive outcomes based on individual strengths and needs.
  • Completes timely documentation of services that clearly describe the need for the service, the intervention provided, the relationship to the treatment plan, the provider of the service, the date, the actual time and setting of the service, and the individual's response to the service.
  • Contacts individuals and/or referral sources following missed appointments to re-engage and promote recovery/resiliency efforts.
  • Supports individuals in crisis situations.
  • Provides mentorship and job shadowing to community support colleagues.
  • Provides qualified mental health provider assistance to clinical teams, including assessment of access to services.
  • Completes annual assessments and other client documentation.
  • Takes the lead on assessments while out on a dispatch.
  • Documents assessments.
  • Makes clinical decisions.
