About The Position

Work collaboratively with local police departments and community partners to provide emergency assessments and community based supports, referrals and linkages, for individuals in the community experiencing behavioral health crisis.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mental health counseling, clinical psychology, social work or other related field required.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in the human service field working with adults, children, adolescents, and families to provide assessment, triage, and crisis intervention for mental health and substance abuse, including certification for hospitalization.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of community resources and systems of care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection of all required documents for grant proposals when necessary.
  • Ride along with local police departments, when appropriate, to co-respond to individuals in the community who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Collaborate with local police department, BH Link, and other community agencies, to complete risk assessments and safety plans for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis in the community.
  • Coordinate referrals to longer term service providers and provide social support resource information to community members in crisis.
  • Complete emergency certifications when necessary.
  • Provide documentation of services consistent with Thrive, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention focused training to local police departments as needed.
  • Attend all agency/department required training and meetings within the prescribed period.
  • Attend all Safety Training programs and be able to describe his/her responsibilities related to the general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all clients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
